Background of the Study

Digital transformation has significantly impacted the way businesses operate, particularly in human resource management (HRM). With the advent of cloud computing, automation, and advanced analytics, HR functions such as recruitment, training, employee performance evaluation, and payroll management have been revolutionized (Ali et al., 2023). In Kogi State, many HR firms are increasingly adopting digital solutions to improve efficiency, reduce administrative costs, and enhance employee engagement. However, the extent to which digital transformation influences HR practices and its alignment with organizational objectives remains underexplored. This study seeks to evaluate how digital transformation is reshaping HR functions in Kogi State.

Statement of the Problem

The adoption of digital tools in HRM is essential for enhancing operational efficiency and improving organizational performance. However, in Kogi State, the extent of HR firms' adoption of digital transformation practices varies, and its effects on HR functions are not well understood. Challenges such as resistance to technological change, lack of infrastructure, and insufficient digital skills hinder the effective integration of these technologies into HR operations. This study aims to assess the role of digital transformation in enhancing human resource management in HR firms in Kogi State.

Objectives of the Study

  1. To assess the impact of digital transformation on HR functions in HR firms in Kogi State.
  2. To identify the barriers to effective digital transformation in HRM within HR firms.
  3. To recommend strategies to improve the adoption and impact of digital transformation in HRM.

Research Questions

  1. How does digital transformation impact HR functions in HR firms in Kogi State?
  2. What barriers affect the effective adoption of digital transformation in HRM?
  3. What strategies can improve the adoption and impact of digital transformation in HRM in Kogi State?

Research Hypotheses

  1. Digital transformation does not significantly impact HR functions in HR firms in Kogi State.
  2. Barriers to digital transformation do not significantly affect the adoption of digital tools in HR firms.
  3. Proposed strategies do not significantly improve the adoption and effectiveness of digital transformation in HRM.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The study focuses on HR firms operating in Kogi State. Limitations include the varying levels of digital transformation adoption across firms and the availability of accurate data on HR operations.

Definitions of Terms
